The appreciation for jazz music within Hip Hop was at it’s peak during the 1990’s when many a production master plucked everything from horn stabs, drum sections and flute solo’s for the construction of head nodding beats. Those practices no doubt rubbed off on John Robinson and the UK’s Lewis Parker…

New Yorker John Robinson and Lewis Parker have teamed up to deliver an excellent collaborative release; Parker is probably one of the most overlooked producers out there with his most notable credits been for Ghostface Killah’s “Outta Town Shit” and “Shakey Dog”, aswell as his releases on Melankolic.
This album is pure feel good music, Parker’s SP-1200 appears to have been a busy device as it has turned out 13 tracks of purely classical boom-bap jazz infused beats. I’ll honestly admit there isn’t one “album” filler track on here. My favourite beats on here include “Enter The Cosmos” and “Dangerous Love Affair”, whilst the title track of the album really shows off the talents of Robinsons effortless story telling style, whilst Parker’s melodic beats carry you through.
If you are a lover of Jazz or a connoisseur of Hip-Hop this needs to be added to your 2010 wish list…
